Increasing NAD+ levels may be the key to maintaing great health. Recently published work showed that increasing NAD+ levels through biosynthesis of NAD+ eliminated Type II diabetes in mice. In an alternate pathway, benaGene works to increase NAD+ levels via its conversion to malate, which recycles NADH back into NAD+.

More Publications on Pyruvate Carboxylase activity and glucose system dysfunction. Can management of Pyruvate Carboxylase's end reactions help stabilize blood glucose?
September 2011 Newsletter
Recent Publications pose the question, "Does Reduction in Pyruvate Carboxylase Activity cause Type II diabetes?". As oxaloacetate is the sole product of the enzyme Pyruvate Carboxylase, this is an important question.

Oxaloacetate supplementation has been shown to have many side effects-- and so far, all of them have been positive effects. The observed effects include Anti-Aging, Glucose Stability, Weight Maintenance, Improved Endurance/Reduced Fatigue, Tissue Protection, Relief from Constipation, and improvements in Mood.

There is increasing evidence that oxaloacetate may be especially effective in protecting neural tissues. Already shown to be a powerful anti-oxidant and to increase lifespan in the laboratory, oxaloacetate is being investigated to stop neurological damage from closed head injury, stroke, epilepsy and now, in a very recent paper, diabetes.

While the stabilization of fasting blood glucose levels typically brings to mind the diabetic condition and the complications therein, even non-diabetic persons can benefit from stabilization of glucose levels. Wild swings in glucose blood levels can cause sugar cravings, sleeplessness, promotes AGE products and causes general damage to the cells, even in "normal" persons. Upregulation of the FOXO3a gene by oxaloacetate supplementation can reduce the swings in glucose levels by more that 50%.
